Mental Golf Strength Over Physical Golf

Mental golf isn’t focused exclusively on thinking about the game and making your plans and strategies. It should help to develop instincts and adaptability. You never know what you may come across when playing a round of golf. You have to be prepared to tackle any situation in which you find yourself.

The mettle of a player is proven when is faced with adverse circumstances. In a perfect world, every golfer could win a championship. But water holes, ponds, sheds, heavy winds and other obstacles have a way of getting in the way! Get over all of these and show how good you are.

Being prepared for every situation is not possible. However, if you have the mental strength accompanied by the skill, no situation would prove to be tough for you. Coordination of the mind and body leads to a perfect shot. Jim Furyk, known as the Gritter, has been known to get the score required no matter what the circumstances are. Even when he messes up a shot, the ball does not fall anywhere from where he cannot recover.  This is because he has planned well in advance about how he is going to play and his mind is constantly working to produce the desired results.

Jack Nicklaus has been repeating time and again, the phrase, “The game of golf is 90% mental and 10% physical”. However, the training regimes of golfers seem to reflect the opposite. There has been a misconception that hitting the ball hard is necessary for hitting it far. A relaxed mind will enable you to achieve the distance you need without having to put in too much effort.
