Adam Scott or Steve Williams - Who Actually Won at the WGC Bridgestone?

Adam Scott won the weekend’s WGC Bridgestone with a blistering 65 in Akron on Sunday. Interesting that it comes just three weeks after his caddie, Steve Williams was fired by Tiger Woods and hired by the intense Australian golfer. It should be noted that Scott has had spotty success since his brilliant Players Championship in 2003 at 23 years old.

Scott told ESPN yesterday when asked about his New Zealand lieutenant, “Obviously he’s (Steve Williams) a popular guy around here having won now eight times,” Scott said, noting the seven previous victories at Firestone. “They appreciate him a lot. And he’s a bit of a character. It was fun to get support, whether it’s for me or him, I don’t care, it’s the right team.

Great praise from the new WGC Bridgestone champion, holding the elegant trophy aloft. What is clear is that their partnership is positive for both men. So the real question is who actually won at the WGC Bridgestone?

With the PGA Championship starting on Thursday, the Scott-Williams team has to be high among the favorites.

High drama, high hopes. Stay tuned.
