In the Bag 2013 with Kevin Streelman

After a long career on tour that stretches back to 2003, journeyman professional Kevin Streelman finally ended his ten-year wait for a tour title by clinching the 2013 Tampa Championship last weekend.

His sumptuous play during the final round saw him hold off a fierce challenge by Boo Weekley, who carded a superb eight-under final round to set a tough clubhouse score earlier in the day. Despite this, Streelman produced one of his best performances on a golf course, hitting some superb iron and wedge shots in particular to hold onto the lead and take victory by two shots.

The win not only gives him a healthy boost up the Fedex Cup and World Rankings, but also qualifies him for next month’s Masters tournament at Augusta.

12-Year-Old Chinese Golf Prodigy Earns Spot in European Tour Event

Many of us have seen the videos of a fresh-faced Tiger Woods on the Bob Hope show many years ago, similarly we watched years later as a freckle-faced Irish child chipped balls into a washing machine on a popular Irish television show, the child’s name was Rory McIlroy (video below).

Yet while these tentative television appearances heralded the start of a career at the top of one of the most popular sports in the world, for some youngsters a heart-warming piece on the television about their prodigious talents is not enough and in China, children as young as 12 or 13 are making a real name for themselves.

App Review: Pre Shot Club Golfer App

While there are many different golf apps available, there are relatively few that concern themselves with one of the most important aspects of the game; the mental side of golf. The Pre Shot Club Golfer app (and it’s successor the Golf Pre Shot Pro app) are two golf apps for iPhone and iPad that break that trend.

Priced at £4.99 each, we’ll examine the first of these apps in a little more detail and examine if they are worth the investment and for which type of player they are most suited, high, mid or low handicapper.

In the Bag 2013: Tiger Woods

He is without doubt the most successful golfer of the modern era, arguably the finest player ever to play the game. He may not have won as many majors as Jack Nicklaus yet, but still aged just 37, Tiger Woods has time on his side.

And if his sensational performance last weekend to win the WGC Cadillac Championship by two shots from friend Steve Stricker is anything to go by, he’ll be looking to line up Major title number 15 at the Masters in April.

In this article, we’ll take a look at what the future holds, some past glories and tribulations as well as what Tiger Woods has in the bag for 2013!

Belly Putter Debate: European Tour at odds with USPGA and PGA of America

I’ll be honest, I was very surprised at the announcement at the end of February that the USPGA and PGA of America have both come out against adopting the proposed ban against anchoring a putter against the body from 2016.

The reason for this is simple; if you follow this to its logical conclusion then by 2016, we could have the farcical situation of two golf tours, which often interchange players for main events, running to two different sets of rules.

Is it possible that players who anchor the putter, like Ernie Els (below) or Keegan Bradley may not be allowed to use that putting stroke in the British Open? If they do, will they be disqualified?

Swing by Swing

When we conduct a golf app review for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad or Android, we do try our best to cover as many devices as possible and occasionally something surprising happens that baffles us. This happened with Free Golf GPS & Scorecard, a popular app from developers Swing by Swing.

And sometimes, the problems with an app lie beyond blaming the developer for designing poor software…

In The Bag 2013 with Ian Poulter

It is fair to say that while some golfers prefer to remain in total control and it is difficult to tell from their reactions whether they have hit a great shot, or a complete shank, Ian Poulter is the polar opposite. The likeable Englishman, now based in Orlando Florida, is one of the most passionate golfers around.

An avid collector of cars, purveyor of many fine (and not so fine!) golfing outfits and one of the finest matchplay players in the modern game, what is it that makes Poulter tick and what is in his bag for 2013?

Read on to find out!
