LPGA Tour Championship 2010 Winner and End Notes

Who would have known that the season ending LPGA championship would have such a compelling finish? We were glued to our seats watching Amy Yang and Maria Hjorth battle it out until the final stroke on the 18th hole at the Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.

Yang made a quadruple-bogey eight at the third hole on Sunday, but managed to climb back with three birdies in four holes. Hjorth opened with a birdie and stretched her lead to four strokes, but let it slip away with two bogies. It all came down to the 18th hole.

Sex on the Golf Course – Updates

The LPGA players voted to abolish the “female by birth” requirement on December 1st, meaning that transgender golfers can compete in tournaments. It took less than two months since Lana Lawless filed a lawsuit in federal court to change the LPGA’s rules. Ms. Lawless may now compete to qualify for upcoming LPGA tournaments so it is only a matter of time before we will see the first transgender participant.
